MAHASEN SATELLITE IMAGE: 1.30 PM (IST), 2.00 PM (BDT), MAY 16, 2013

Latest satellite images of MAHASEN show that the cyclone is weakening fast after it made contact with land. It seems likely that it will quickly move over into the Indian NE within 24 hours.

In other words Mahasen has fallen apart rapidly.

Also it seems the storm has bypassed Chittagong, moving by an area a few hundred kms north from Chittagong.

In the meantime, heavy rains. It rained heavily in Kolkata just a few hours ago. It is raining buckets in Bangladesh now.

And Bangladesh will get some very very strong winds (It is getting it now).

It is raining heavily in the NE states. This will increase as the remnants of Mahasen moves over it. So rains in the Indian NE states for another day or two.

Cyclone often weaken quickly after landfall. That seems to be happening with Mahasen.

I will not be surprised if the sun shines on some parts of Bangladesh tomorrow.
