Monsoon Prepares To Gradually Advance Some More

JUNE 15, 2017, THURSDAY

There might be a marked absence of big rain systems which help monsoon to penetrate swiftly deep into India, but it is advancing nevertheless. Albeit at a snail's pace.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department in the next 2-3 days it will move further into Gujarat region, cover entire Marathwad, enter some parts of Vidarbha, Bihar, Jharkhand, advance further into Chattisgarh and cover entire West Bengal.

A look at the forecast trends in the coming days, one can see that the rains moving steadily into Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, eastern Rajasthan and stretching upto Delhi. Pre-monsoon showers are going to increase in all these regions.

Only Gujarat and western Rajasthan will be left almost dry. For Gujarat it seems like a nightmarish repeat of 2016 when rains eluded the state, whilst there were floods in neighbouring Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

FORECAST FLASH.....

Heavy rains are possible in Mumbai from June 21 (Wednesday).

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING: Very heavy rains likely in next 24 hours in coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining parts of Telangana. Till Friday noon.
