Monsoon is bunking classes now, so to speak. After hitting Kerala, Indian NE and coastal Karnataka it is taking it easy. All that will end on June 10, 2017.
Things will happen after roughly a week from next Friday-Saturday. A massive cluster of thunderstorms will develop off the Konkan-Saurashtra coast, may be even a low pressure area (LPA). Monsoon will then pass through Goa, rush to Mumbai, Konkan and then by June 14 hit Gujarat, even southern Rajasthan.
Simultaneously, the Bay of Bengal will spawn a low pressure area off the Odisha coast. That too around June 10, 2017.
These two developments together will get the monsoon moving again, into more parts of India.
Mumbai debut of rainy season? Our latest estimate is June 10-11.
Gujarat? June 14.
Odisha, Andhra Pradesh? June 11-12.
After June 10, expect very heavy, flooding rains in many parts of India.
That does not mean that there will be little rainfall in the country till then. Vigorous, violent thunderstorms will occur in different parts of the country every day. Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar especially.
And of course, rains will continue where the monsoon has already entered.
