GFS EXPECTS A Cyclone hit on Yemen May 20

As the monsoon draws near forecast models are rife with possibilities of a tropical storm/cyclone developing in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.

First the rock solid proven European forecast model, the ECMWF, predicts a depression developing in the Arabian Sea on May 15, 2016, near the Kerala coast.

Next the CFS model of Climate Prediction Center (NOAA) expects a tropical storm around May 26 again near the Kerala coast. It may hit central Oman by June 2.

Thirdly, NASA's GEOS-5 (Goddard Earth Observing System) forecast model sees a vicious cyclone developing in the Bay of Bengal on May 11 and hitting Bangladesh on May 15.

But the GEOS 5 being an experimental model one does not take it seriously. Anyway in it's later data output it rules out a cyclone but does expect increasing thunderstorm activity in the Bay of Bengal in the coming ten days moving northward.
