Indications are that Phailin is going to be a big storm. Bigger than Mahasen. It will take form around May 21, 2013 between the Horn of Africa and the Kerala coast and head NW straight towards Oman.
Another possibility is it may strike Gujarat (India) on the 27th of May, 2013.
Either way "Phailin" is gonna be very big

too early to comment and judge at this stage...
ReplyDeleteWe had predicted MAHASEN on May 1, 2013. Ten days before.
Deleteany chance of lanfall at kerala?
ReplyDeleteSince PHAILIN is expected to form about 1000 Km west of the coast of Kerala, it is unlikely that it will move eastwards. Historical records gainsay such a possibility.
DeleteIs there any possibility of Heavy Rains in Mumbai if Cyclone hits Gujarat?
ReplyDeleteIt depends on what path PHAILIN chooses to tread. If it heads to OMAN rains are unlikely on the Indian coast (including Mumbai). If it favors Gujarat, Mumbai may get a drenching..
DeleteWhich path is more likely? Oman or gujarat? We live in muscat , oman.
ReplyDeleteSk.
Hard to say now but Oman looks more likely. It is uncertain if PHAILIN will form at all. Forecast models intermittently flash warnings about its possibility.
DeleteThanks.pls keep on updating.
